Faces on Shirts

Is it ever ok to wear your face on a shirt? Well, probably not. So I got my buddy to model my new tee's instead. I guess it helps that she's a chick and much cuter than I am. But alas I digress. Now introducing my newest creation: the Cranefaced Tee's!!!!

$26

Each shirt is going to be in a limited edition of 250. So you can be sure that you almost nobody else will be able to cop yo style (well, except for the other 249 people i guess...but who's counting?). You can either pick one up through me, or at Kulturez Flagship store. Currently in limited supply so get it while it's hot!!!

Fun House

I was scouting for potential World of One locations earlier today, when I came upon this awesome looking house. Looking at this, I would probably fail as an architecture photographer, but hey at least it looks pretty cool.

I just got some T-shirts in earlier this week and will be putting them for sale online soon along with the posters. But for now, here's the concept sketch:

Check back later this week and I'll have some cool shit up!

A Decade of Florox

In celebration of my crew's 10th anniversary, we thought it would be a great idea to cram as many of us as we could into one epic photoshoot. This is by far the most members we've ever had doing the Florox pose at once. Special thanks to Andy who helped me come up with the idea for the shoot (or who possibly came up with the idea, i don't remember), Julia and Emily for pressing the button, and to the Florox massive for being the most awesome and real friends ever.

For those of you who don't know, Florox is quite possibly the most white collar bboy crew in the world. All of our members have been through college (unprecedented for a bboy crew) with many of us either pursuing higher degrees, starting medical careers, or working white collar jobs in money/engineering. Then there are guys like me, who suck at making a living but are good at creative stuff.

The concept of this shoot was that we would all dressed in our work cloths and do the Florox pose in front of the single most famous graffiti spot in the world: 5Ptz, NYC. I thought that this would be a good way to show our unity as a crew, our participation in Hip Hop culture, as well as different paths we have taken in life. Big ups to the Florox massive, I can't wait to see all you guys again next year.

Posters For Sale!!!

Posters are in!!! As promised, I will be selling 20 x 24 posters of my "Cranefaced" self-portrait all numbered and signed for $35 +shipping/tax.

Feels kinda weird to be saying that i'm selling pictures of myself, kinda makes me feel like a douche bag. I think generally when you see a person standing next to an oversized photo of themselves, they are either: a) a dictator or b) a narcissistic bastard. Then again, an artist is a bit of both i guess.

Each image will be signed and numbered by myself there are 250 in all in this edition and I doubt I will reprint this image in the future. You can pick one up here on the blog or at Kulturez Flagship store. Thanks to all my readers and supporters!!

Click on the link to see more info about this image on my super secret blog...which is not so secret anymore.

Morning Glory

After a long night of drinking, as I finally laid down to rest in my drunken stupor this was what I saw before me. Those few moments in the morning when the sky starts to lighten, but the street lights are still on. As soon as I saw it I knew immediately that I had to take this picture, or I might not get chance ever again. I'm glad that I did.

I actually haven't been shooting a whole lot of work this past week, mostly I have been designing some stuff that my friends might actually want/be able to buy. I've got some t-shirts coming in, in about two weeks, and some posters and postcards as well. Once I get my hands on the stuff I will post more info about it, set up a web shop.

Hopefully this will be a way for me to make my art more accessible. I think one of the things that turns most people off from fine art is that they simply don't know what to do with it. But I guess that's one of the characteristics that makes it art, that it's worthless, has no function other than being something that you to look at. More and more i'm starting to think that art is just stuff that rich people use to decorate their houses. I don't really know that many rich folks, but I do have couple of friends who are rather fashion savvy, or like to put up poster, or if they're like me they might collect postcards because they can't afford real art.

Duchamp proved with his readymades that art is whatever we say it is. But I find that we are now living in a world that is becoming increasingly easier for artists to produce readymades themselves.

World of One: Salvo

Just as I promised, a new "World of One" piece! I present to you friends and random readers/followers "World of One: Salvo." From a technical standpoint, this picture is far superior to my "Dichotomy" piece I posted in August of last year. It feels good to be making some cool looking shit again. Not that I think my other pictures don't look cool (otherwise I wouldn't be posting them on here) but I think this series tends to have a stronger immediate visual impact than the others. I'm totally going to send this to all my friends (mental note, noted).

Now that the weather is warm enough for me to actually want to be outside, I think I'll actually get around to making more of these, and possibly finishing the series. To be honest I was a little scared at first, mostly because I was fresh out of ideas as to how I could make these more awesome. But as we were shooting I remembered how little of a fucking clue I had the first time around. I never know what's going on with these shoots and that's probably why they are so much fun. Usually when I plan things out it never goes the way that I want. This has been true in my dancing as well. More recently I have begun the painful process of learning how to freestyle, learning to concentrate on the music and less on what I'm actually doing. As a result, my dancing has definitely gotten better (or at least feels a hell of a lot better anyway). With the artwork it's the exact thing: if I over think it, it's shit. When I concentrate on just doing and making something awesome, even if I have no idea what I'm doing somehow it magically works.
